Our Programs

Kumon Math & Reading Programs — Pre-K Through High School

Three continuous, self-paced curricula — Math, Reading, and our new English for Spanish Speakers (EFL) program — offered at our McKinney Southwest and Highland Village, TX centers, in center or online. Every student starts at their exact level and advances through mastery — many beyond grade level.

The Kumon Math Program: Counting to Calculus

One unbroken staircase of skills. Each level consists of 200 worksheets advancing in tiny increments, so no student ever faces a leap they are unprepared for. Daily practice builds the speed and accuracy — not just correctness — that make higher math feel easy.

Early Learners (Ages 3–5)

Counting to 100, number recognition and writing, basic addition readiness — taught through engaging, game-like worksheets that also build pencil skills and focus.

Elementary (Ages 6–10)

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division carried to true automaticity, followed by an exceptionally thorough mastery of fractions — the strongest predictor of algebra success.

Middle School (Ages 11–13)

Positive/negative numbers, algebraic expressions, linear and simultaneous equations, inequalities, and introductory functions — the bridge from arithmetic to abstraction.

High School (Ages 14–18)

Quadratic and higher-degree functions, factorization, logarithms, trigonometry, sequences, limits — culminating in differential and integral calculus.

Early Learners (Ages 3–5)

Phonics, letter sounds, sight words, and first sentences — building the sound-letter connections that make decoding natural.

Elementary (Ages 6–10)

Reading fluency, vocabulary growth, sentence structure, and paragraph comprehension using increasingly rich stories and nonfiction.

Middle School (Ages 11–13)

Summarizing, identifying main ideas, drawing inferences, and interpreting increasingly complex passages across genres.

High School (Ages 14–18)

Critical reading of advanced literature and nonfiction — analyzing arguments, themes, and author’s intent at a college-preparatory level.

The Kumon Reading Program: Phonics to Critical Reading

Reading is the delivery system for every school subject. The Kumon Reading Program builds the full comprehension stack — decoding, vocabulary, sentence understanding, synthesis, and critical interpretation — through daily passages drawn from quality literature and nonfiction.

New Program

The Kumon English for Spanish Speakers Program (EFL)

Created for native Spanish speakers, from preschool through secondary school, the EFL program builds the ability to read and understand English — and to listen and speak with confidence — in about 30 minutes of daily practice. Students study on a tablet through Kumon Connect, using worksheets paired with audio tracks, so listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills develop together.

Learning a new language from an early age gives your child the tools to compete in today's world. Your Kumon instructor will recommend the right English program for your child — EFL or the standard Reading Program — based on a free diagnostic assessment.

What It Covers

English vocabulary, expressions used in everyday life, introductory and intermediate grammar and sentence structure, and reading comprehension.

Audio Support Throughout

Complementary audio tracks across the entire program strengthen listening and speaking, with oral reading practice at every level.

Spanish Translation Support

Key words and sentences include Spanish translations, so students always understand the meaning of what they are learning.

Platform

Available exclusively through Kumon Connect (tablet study) because of the built-in audio component — students work with a tablet, headphones, and a stylus.

How Kumon Differs From Typical Tutoring

Supplemental, Not Homework Help

Kumon does not re-teach tonight’s assignment. It builds the underlying fluency that makes homework stop being a struggle in the first place.

Mastery-Based, Not Calendar-Based

Students advance when accuracy and speed prove a level is mastered — never because the semester moved on. Gaps cannot accumulate.

Builds Study Habits & Independence

Short daily practice and self-learning worksheets create routines and self-reliance that outlast any single course or test.

Programs by Age Group

Preschool

Ages 3–5

Early math and pre-reading skills, pencil control, and the beginnings of a daily learning routine.

Elementary

Ages 6–10

Core fluency years — operations, fractions, reading stamina, and vocabulary that carry every later grade.

Middle School

Ages 11–13

The bridge to abstraction: algebra readiness and deep comprehension ahead of high school demands.

High School

Ages 14–18

Advanced math through calculus and critical reading — strong preparation for AP courses and college.

Building a Strong Foundation for the SAT

When it comes to college entrance exams, practice makes perfect. The early habits students build through daily Kumon math and reading practice lay a strong foundation for the SAT — sharpening the reading comprehension and math skills the test rewards. By the time high schoolers reach test prep, speed, accuracy, and confident problem-solving already feel automatic, so preparing for the SAT becomes far less stressful.
